When using a heat pump tariff, there may be a block period when the heat pump is not running. This lockout period is called the EVU block.
EVU is an abbreviation for Energieversorgungsunternehmen (energy supplier).
This shutdown for a short period of time relieves the power grid during peak periods.
However, it depends on the grid operator how long the lockout is imposed or when it occurs. This can vary from grid operator to grid operator.
The legislator has set up limits for EVU block so you as a consumer are protected from longer outages. Thus, heating can be shut off for a maximum of 6 hours a day for heating systems. However, individual blocking periods are limited to a maximum of 2 hours and then take place a maximum of 3 times a day. It is usual to divide them between morning, midday and evening. In other words, at the times when the power grids are under particularly heavy load due to high consumption levels.
The EVU block is not harmful to the heat pump and the rest of the heating system.
Currently, no EVU blocking is carried out for our contracts.
