RLM stands for “registrierende Lastgangmessung” (registrating load profile measurement) ⚡ – your electricity consumption is automatically recorded every 15 minutes. This data forms a detailed load profile, showing exactly how much electricity you have used over longer periods, such as a month or a year.
Grid operators and electricity suppliers use this information to better understand consumption patterns and improve their planning. The load profile also helps identify peak loads and manage energy use more efficiently. For Ostrom, having access to your load profile data is essential for accurately billing your consumption, applying the correct market price, and offering you our SimplyDynamic tariff.
Whether your meter has an RLM profile is determined by your responsible grid operator – the profile is either automatically activated based on consumption, or we'll need to request a change to your delivery point’s forecasting basis. Only the grid operator can set or modify the meter profile.
The measurement is carried out using an intelligent metering system, also known as a smart meter. Your smart meter automatically and regularly sends your consumption data to us, without any estimates or manual readings.
Starting June 6th, 2025, the new 24-hour supplier switch will ensure that all delivery points with smart meters are automatically supplied with an RLM profile. For you, this means we no longer need to request changes to the meter profile, making switching to the SimplyDynamic tariff faster and easier! 🚀
