📉 Why is my meter reading marked as invalid when I have a solar system?

If you installed your solar system after signing your contract, your new meter reading may be flagged as “implausible.”
This happens because your actual consumption is now significantly lower than the originally estimated usage due to your PV system.

👉 Solution:
Please contact us — we’ll check your meter reading and manually validate it for you:

  • Via chat

  • Or through the contact form

💡 Note for smart meters:
If you have a smart meter, you don’t need to enter readings manually — they’re transmitted automatically.

🔢 Can I view meter readings for both grid consumption and feed-in?

Yes.
A smart meter is usually a bidirectional meter, measuring both your consumption and your solar feed-in.

  • Register 1.8.0: Power drawn from the grid

  • Register 2.8.0: Power fed into the grid

💡 Tip: On most digital meters, the display switches automatically.
Look for the register number — usually to the left or in one corner of the screen.

🔍 I see two readings — which one should I enter?

A smart meter measures both your consumption and your feed-in.

  • Register 1.8.0: Power drawn from the grid

  • Register 2.8.0: Power fed into the grid

For Ostrom, only the grid consumption (Register 1.8.0) is relevant — that’s the value you should submit.

🔋 Does Ostrom offer a special tariff for solar systems?

Ostrom does not offer a specific feed-in tariff.
Your solar feed-in is not automatically offset against your electricity consumption.

However, our dynamic tariff “Simply Dynamic” is perfect for solar households:

  • Purchase power at hourly wholesale prices

  • Adjust your usage to sunny or low-price hours

  • Optimize self-consumption and save on costs

👉 Important: The feed-in payment is still handled by your grid operator, not by Ostrom.
➡️ Find more information about our tariffs on our website under Electricity Tariffs.
