Why do I see a red (negative) estimated balance in the app?

🧮 What does the app compare?

The estimated balance shows a calculated interim status and compares:

  • the payments that have actually been received by us up to a specific cut-off date

  • with the electricity costs incurred up to that date, calculated based on the latest meter readings available

Important to know:

  • the comparison is always made up to a fixed date (e.g. 31.01.2026)

  • you can see the exact cut-off date directly in the app

  • anything that happens after this date is not yet included in the estimated balance

🔴 Why is the number red?

A red (negative) amount means, if we were to create an interim invoice at this point:

  • your electricity costs so far would be higher than the payments received up to that date,

  • so a top-up payment would likely be due

This often happens because:

  • your electricity consumption or costs are increasing faster than the payments received so far

  • or your most recent monthly deposit payment is already due or listed as a receivable in your contract account, but has not yet been received by us
(e.g. because the direct debit will only be processed in the next few days)

Example:

  • Your January payment is debited from your bank account at the beginning of February

  • for the estimated balance up to 31 January, this amount is therefore not yet included, even though it is already recorded internally as a receivable

  • as a result your estimated balance might be negative due to the missing deposit payment

💡 What can you do?

  • wait until your payment has been received – the estimated balance will then be recalculated automatically

  • ideally, submit an up-to-date meter reading regularly (e.g. at the beginning of each month)

In many cases:

  • the value adjusts automatically on its own

👀 I have a smart meter – why don’t I see this feature?

Customers with a smart meter usually do not see the estimated balance in the app, as their consumption data is transmitted automatically and updated daily.

✅ Good to know

  • the estimated balance is not an invoice, but a non-binding interim estimate

  • it is only meant to help you keep track during the year

  • if you’d like a precise overview, we can create an interim invoice for you at any time → this will clearly show whether you currently have a credit or a top-up payment due
