Our pricing model sets the amount of your monthly deposit and is based, in addition to your electricity usage in kWh, on these components:

  1. Yearly Consumption kWh

The yearly consumption in kWh is how much electricity you use per year.

  2. Working Price in ct/kWh

The Working Price is calculated as cents per kilowatt/hour. At Ostrom, this is the energy at cost price, with no markups.

  3. Grid Fees

The Grid Fees comprise all taxes and levies that are needed to get electricity from a power plant to your home.

  4. Basic Fee

The Basic Fee is our flat 6€ per month fee at Ostrom. Unlike other providers, we only have this flat fee and do not earn more on your Unit Price.

Example

For example, a unit price of 30 ct/kWh at a yearly consumption rate of 1200 kWh, grid fees of 4€, plus the basic fee of 6€ would calculate a monthly cost of:

  • 1200 kWh / 12 months = 100 kWh/month

  • 100 kWh x 30 ct/kWh = 30€

  • 30€ + 4€ grid fees + 6€ flat fee= 40€

→ 40€ final monthly price (example)

To calculate your own monthly deposit, you can use our tariff calculator.
