This depends on how your smart meter was installed:
1. Ostrom is your metering point operator
The costs for purchase and installation are automatically charged via your electricity invoice β either through your monthly invoice or your annual invoice. No upfront payment is required.
2. You requested the installation via Ostrom during sign-up - your grid operator is your metering point operator
If we arranged the installation for you and the grid operator charges us for it, these costs will also be passed on to you via your electricity invoice β either through one of your monthly invoices or your annual invoice.
Important
If you arrange the installation yourself without Ostrom acting as an intermediary, you will usually need to cover the costs directly β especially if the installation is not part of the free smart meter rollout.
