Starting June 6, 2025, a new legal regulation comes into effect:
Electricity supplier switches must be completed within 24 hours on business days. It requires all energy providers to process supplier switches promptly and prohibits any retroactive switches.

This rule is laid out in Section 20a (2) of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG).
